“The difficulty lies not so much in developing new ideas as in escaping from old ones.” — John Maynard Keynes
Solar Eclipse in Capricorn
January 5th, 2019
The Source of All Things
On January 5th, 2019 there will be a Partial Solar Eclipse in Western Capricorn at 15 Degrees. Like all New Moons, this represents a time to set new seeds but a Solar Eclipse simply amplifies the growth of those seeds moving forward. In this article, we will discuss and apply Sidereal, Western, and Vedic astrology to come up with a holistic view of this point in Astrological history. As well as the card and diety of the week that speaks so beautifully to this energy.
Sun and Moon at 15° Capricorn
A New Moon is when the Sun and Moon are conjunct and a Solar Eclipse is when the Earth is in between this conjunction blocking the sun out momentarily. So the wise would set intentions during this day, there will be an abundance of feminine energy allowing your manifestations to be pushed along the current. This energy creates fresh intuitions based on new information and the learning you have acquired. Intuition should create new ideas and new actions, so be mindful to not to continue to support the same old ideas. New ideas can easily get drown in the daily minutiae of everyday life, so the idea we want to work with when cultivating new ideas is the idea of Tender Loving Care (TLC). Through this understanding, we have an opportunity to live within the concept of a total Absolution of Negative Tendencies.
Conjunct Saturn at 11° Capricorn
We live in a world where we make decisions and sometimes we feel like the decision is out of our hand. To articulate the latter point to those close to us sounds like we are making an excuse for our irresponsible behavior. Deep within the mysteries of all life which is within us is an actual purpose for the things we do not completely understand. Saturn is dealing with a difficult concept to wrap your head around, Entropy and the Mysteries of Sex and Childbirth. Entropy meaning lack of order or predictability; gradual decline into disorder, which is life, and one of the most difficult things to overcome psychologically. The Solar Eclipse energy is allowing us to actually bring peace to disorderly situations that have confused us or things we have used as an excuse not to progress.

Conjunct Pluto at 20° Capricorn
On the other side of this Solar Eclipse is Pluto which speaks to Spiritual Support through a transformation. Which is an idea you may have given up on or thought was unachievable that now has the support to bring into manifest. It’s also asking a question, What is Trauma? Trauma creates a walking living shell, so it is important to find yourself and focus on what you can do, and not what hurts you. What hurts you can motivate you just as surely as the things that motivate you and inspire you, so it’s important to understand the difference.
Sextile Neptune at 14° Pisces
Now that Neptune has stationed direct recently we are now collectively regaining our spiritual footing. The beauty of a retrograde is that it allows you to reach back to the ancestral truths if one seeks, and with that, we are now applying spiritual intelligence and understanding the reality of the subtlety of spirituality. This energy is Sextile the Solar Eclipse so to fully realize this takes effort.
Nakshatra of the Week — Purva Ashada
“A lunar mansion is a segment of the ecliptic (often called a station or house) through which the Moon passes in its orbit around Earth, often used by ancient cultures as part of their calendar system.”
This Solar Eclipse is aligned with the pinnacle of Venusian energy and speaks to a heightened spiritual urge and righting of wrongs. If there are any issues that will block you from your purpose it will be highlighted during this time. This is an alignment and speaks to Spiritual Justice and Truth. If there have been forces against you this energy speaks to an ending of forces and the beginning of positive energy moving forward.
Cards of the Week — 3 of Disks and the Devil
Our first card, the 3 of Disks (Pentacles, Coins, Earth) speaks to what we call processing and determining the best way to achieve a result. If the idea is manageable and able to maintain, from this perspective all things are possible. Wherever you can take concrete steps, in what ways can you make your dreams relatable and tangible. There is a model for what you are trying to achieve, if you were to take your time and secure the knowledge it will be available to you. There is also aid and advice if you are able to seek counsel. Don’t waste this energy doing nothing, think of what you can achieve and look for ways to accomplish it.
Our second card that aligns with this Solar Eclipse is from the Major Arcana, the Devil. There are so many different interpretations for this card it is hard to find solid footing on what this card means and what it represents. The Kabbalistic symbol for this card is Ayin, or “nothingness”. Ayin has to do with vision and bringing forth lights that are hidden, it is teaching us to look beyond the physical, it is meant to take us from the dark to the light, and break through limitations to see which is unseen. This can be connected to the Devil in the way that we all have to encounter are the shadow or everything we have refused to see up to this point. Once seeing this shadow, we do not run from it, we learn from it, or we succumb to it over and over. The sign of Capricorn represents ultimately the lowest point of the Sun where the Sun is reborn, fortunate are those are able to rebirth themselves. The Devil speaks to that, evil is simply believing in the same old shit.
The deity of the Week — Mut, Maut, Mout
I have given unto thee the sovereignty of the father Geb, and the goddess Mut, thy mother, who gave birth to the gods, brought thee forth as the first-born of five gods, and created thy beauties and fashioned thy members.
– The Book of the Dead
Mut, Maut, Mout, (not to be confused with Ma’at) the vulture goddess of Ancient Egypt. The All-Mother, the Source of all things. The word Mut is the root word to the word Mother. Mut outranks even Isis, as the Mother Goddess of Egypt. She came to be represented as the “Eye of Ra”, the ferocious goddess of retribution. The Egyptians linked vultures and motherhood that is why you have a mother goddess being closely tied to a vulture synonymously. As the Great Mother Goddess Mut replaced or assimilated many of the Egyptian goddesses. Her followers believed her to be the one who created and gave birth to all. This primal energy is connected to the Fixed Star Vega, which this Solar Eclipse is in direct alignment with. The idea is just to simply be aware and grateful for this alignment and transformation. The idea of astrology is to connect one with his sovereignty and divinity through observation, this moment speaks to a culmination of this energy.
