We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 19 – 21
Throughout the world and history, the misunderstood planet of Venus has remained pervasive and forever present. In this article, we will examine the mystery attached to this planet and hopefully bring clarity to a commonly misunderstood planet. By looking at the planets astronomy, mythology from ancient civilizations, and Venus’ occult pretext will open the door to much of what’s been hidden in plain sight.
Venus is the 3rd brightest object in the sky after the moon and the sun. We know that the moon and sun affect this world. So it would make sense to imagine that Venus would affect the world as well. But how?
Venus and the Earth share a similar size and are the respective 2nd and 3rd planets from the Sun. The sunlight sent through venus is magnified and is reflected on earth. This supports the occult light that is bestowed on the planet. The true light which is illumination opposed to the light from the sun.
And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light”
With this idea in mind, Venus and the Earth are Called Twin Sisters. Life on earth is very much dependant on Venus, just as it is with the Sun and the Moon. Therefore, Venus remains the most occult, powerful, and mysterious of all planets. If understood we must look at Venus as the masculine/feminine counterpart to our planet. As above so below.
It is said that Venus is the Goddes of Love, Sex, Beauty, and Charm. We must be clear to note that these things don’t exist in a finite state but they are mere means to an end. So to stop at that definition is a fantastical way of looking at this planet and not holistic. So the appearance is getting what you want but realizing that what you want is ultimately disappointing creates a need for more. So to move past the apparent and deal with the hidden meaning behind connections and why they ultimately turn dark needs to be examined.
Venus’ trajectory through the cosmos is much different from other planets. Venus tends to rise and fall through the sky creating the pattern of the pentagram in the sky. So the symbol of the Pentagram and Venus should be synonymous in our minds. When you think of a pentagram as a symbol, it is the ritualistic opening and closing to ceremonies. It is the symbol of magic, occultism, and initiation. It is also the symbol of the sacred feminine. So the mystery is uncovered when we follow the pentagram.
Venus rising is said to be an auspicious placement, as opposed to Venus falling, it is viewed as destructive. In the religion of Christianity, we are able to see Venus clearly as a mystery that is veiled.
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you[a] this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
So we see Venus interpreted as Jesus and Lucifer in the same book. Speaking to the destructive and redeeming nature of the planet. We can see Jesus as the “Light” and Lucifer as the “Light Bearer”, just representing two sides of the same coin. We see Jesus “rise” from the grave as we see Lucifer “fall” from heaven. In consciousness it is wise to look at these energies as one thing as opposed to this side is good and this side is bad. From a holistic perspective, we can find true wisdom.
In Vedic Astrology, Venus is known as Shukra. Shukra is known to have all knowledge and has the ability to raise individuals from the dead with this knowledge. For this reason, the Gods and humans alike seek Shukra for knowledge of immortality.
“I see Him, but not now; I behold Him, but not near; a Star shall come out of Jacob; a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and batter the brow of Moab, and destroy all the sons of tumult” (Numbers 24:17).
In Egyptian Mythology, we can find Venus in the Goddess Sekhmet. When we understand that at one time Venus was a violent comet that seemed to cause great malevolence that demanded veneration and respect, we can connect Venus-Comet Planet to Sekhmet. Every approach of this Comet would cause violent floods, disruption of the poles, and mass confusion. This makes sense when trying to make sense of the mythological stories of Sekhmet and her murderous rampages. The twin-tailed comet can be seen in Sekhmet’s Horned Crown. Since Venus rules the constellation of Taurus, she is seen as a Bull. As her energy settled into a planet, you can see a shift in the rise of the Roman civilization and the fall of the Egyptian.
In Roman Mythology Venus’ two sides are seen as a relationship with Vulcan and Mars. It was said that her loveless relationship with Vulcan caused her to cheat with Mars. She had many consorts and children. Whenever Vulcan would hear about her indiscretions he would cause great earthquakes and volcanos on the land. Although the children and the love she made with Mars was beautiful, the fact that the beauty was never sustained created an imbalance in the world. The lesson ultimately is that life is not always beautiful and ideal. Even if it is the emotions associated with when they are not can be avoided if we know that those negative emotions are inevitable.
The idea surrounding Venus is desire. Etymologically speaking the word desire means to await what the stars will bring. So either desire is pursued or ignored. Within this lies the mystery of Venus and her dual nature of both protector and destroyer of illusions. Because if you were to study mythology and western astrology you would pick up on all the beauty this planet has to offer. If you look at Astronomy, you see the hottest, the most poisonous planet in our solar system. Yet when we rise early in the morning and are greeted by the brightest star in the sky it is hard to imagine that dark side. Venus is teaching us about our fall, by being older than the earth, and once sustaining life it crashed and burned into the volcanic poisonous state. Seeing the potential in us and this planet, the wisdom and light bestowed on us from Venus is to teach us how to balance our experience. When we seek love for love’s sake we are being naive to the other side. When we seek love with the understanding of the complete picture of the rising and falling of emotions we can match our energy to that, creating balance and wholeness. This is a much different view of the mainstream fantasy of perfect love with no shadow. Once we realize all love is shadow then we are better equipped to handle our relationships with patience and development. To be grounded in reality is to be grounded in the reality of the higher self. The higher self provides illumination.
“It is not permissible to say much about this mystery, that ‘Venus is the Earth’s alter ego’, nor is it advisable, but certain ideas may be suggested which—if brooded on—may result in a wider grasp of the beauty of nature’s synthesis, and of the wonderful correlation of all that is in process of evolution. Perhaps some idea may be gained if we remember that, in an occult sense, Venus is to the Earth what the higher Self is to man.”
